Twenty-NOINEEEE!

Love of my Life

Kathryn's birthday fell upon a Wednesday this year. Obvious workweek conflicts aside, it was doubly compounded by her workplace requesting she come in by 6:30AM the next day. That left us but a few hours in the day to celebrate. Things looked bleak until we were talking to my parents a week or two earlier:

Why don't we take you both to dinner that night?

An excellent idea! And if we were doing that, it only made sense to invite Kathryn's parents as well.

Sure, we'll be there!

Kathryn went scuba diving with Katie (her older sister) the same weekend I got my open water certification and told her of the birthday arrangement.

Thanks for the invite!

It only made sense to include the remaining member of Kathryn's core family at this point. Finally, on the precipice of the birthday, Katie asked Kathryn:

Can my friend Colin come?

This is the story of how a simple birthday exploded into an eight-person bash. We stuffed our faces at Cape Fear Seafood Company before retreating back home for presents and a cake I had prepared.

Happy birthday, Kathryn! We love you and will come from all ends of the earth to celebrate you.
